LOBECTOMY

Lobectomy may be performed as a treatment for bronchogenic carcinoma or other rare malignant tumours. More rarely it is indicated for the treatment of benign tumours or in case of completely destroyed lobe as a result of recurrent lobar infections.
The patients who have lobectomy are mobilized 24 hours postoperatively and the vast majority of the patients have normal activity two (2) to three (3) months after the operation. Lobectomy is associated with low postoperative morbidity and the postoperative mortality is lower than 1.5%.
